INSTALLATION

The surface has to be compact, dry (moisture below 2,5% CCM), without cracking or scratches, free from fat and grease.

Installation steps:

  • accurate measurement of the rooms,
  • the prepared gores should be laid over in the room and then cut so that the lining could easily spread over the whole surface
  • gores prepared in this way should "age" for 24 hours; "ageing" causes reduction of tensions and allows the lining to fit to the surface,
  • fastening of the lining using either gluing or stretching method.
Gluing

Gluing should be done on the whole surface. You must not glue the lining in spots or only along the walls. Only full gluing of the lining provides a guarantee for proper use. The glued lining should be throughly pressed over the whole surface, then it can be finally cut and finishing slats can be fitted. Do not put furniture or other outfit directly after completion of the installation. The glue reaches its final gluing strength after approximately 72 h.

Stretching

Stretching or straining consists in stretching and fitting the carpet to the floor in various ways. This method can be used only by specialist firms dealing with installation of lining. Should you have any questions, please contact your dealer or a specialist firm dealing with installation of lining.

Cleaning and maintenance

Vacuum cleaning

In all textile floor covers with wool pile which is cut and cropped some single fibres tend to get out more or less intensively. In our products such a loss of fibres does not exceed 3% of nap coating mass. Stabilisation of nap coating takes place within approximately three months, depending on how intensively the carpet is used. During this time the carpet should be often vacuum cleaned. We recommend using a suction vacuum cleaner end-piece designed for soft surfaces (not a brush).

Periodical Cleaning

Special recommendations:

  • Liquid substances can be removed by applying absorbing materials e.g. white paper towels or cotton towels.
  • Cleaning agents should not be poured directly onto the lining or carpet.
  • When applying stain removing agents take into account product meterial (80% wool, 20% nylon) and type of stain.
  • Do not use substances of unknown origin or performance.
  • Before use read the application instructions of the agent.
  • Before applying the agent in a visible place, try it first in a hidden area of the carpet for checking the resistance of colour.
  • Do not tear stains. This may make them bigger and the product intself could become deformed.
  • While cleaning do not let the product become too wet.
  • Always clean stains in the direction from their outside to inside.

Cleaning steps

  • Local stains should be removed immediately using a clean cloth.
  • After identifying type of stain remove it following the instructions given in "stain removing methods" table or  using professional stain removing agents.
  • After applying any chemical substances you should neutralise the affected area. You can do it by covering the area with a moist cloth and pressing it slightly several times.
  • Remove excess of moisture using a dry cloth.
  • Dry the carpet spread at room temperature.
  • After drying vacuum clean and brush throughly.

We recommend performing periodical and through cleaning by specialist firms dealing with textile floor covers cleaning.

"Shadow casting"

There can be lighter or darker stains on plain colour linings and carpets. These are shades which appear depending on the side from which the carpet is observed. It is a feature characteristic for products with cut and cropped coating. Tops of the cut off jarn in the newly laid product are parallel to each other, each inclination is regular and in the same direction consistent with direction of appearing on the loom. When pressed, bunches of the nap incline in various directions exposing sides of the yarn to the light which deflect light differently to cut off ends of the yarn.
